The practice
of Endocrinology involves the diagnosis and treatment of diseases
of glands including the thyroid, parathyroids, adrenals, and
pituitary. Calcium and bone diseases, including osteoporosis,
are also treated, as are metabolic disorders such as all forms
of diabetes, pre-diabetes and lipid (cholesterol and triglyceride)
abnormalities. In addition, we offer various therapies for
peri- and post-menopausal women and evaluation of sexual dysfunction
in men.
The clinics
are divided into Diabetes & Metabolism
Clinic, where patients with diabetes, pre-diabetes, insulin
resistance, polycystic ovary syndrome, obesity and lipid disorders
are seen, and Endocrinology Clinic, where all other patients
are seen. In the area of lipid problems Drs. Ulbrecht and
Dorsey work closely with nutritionists, while diabetes nurses
are also involved in the treatment of diabetes and related
disorders.
